TADEUSZ TREPKOWSKI

1. I 1914 (Warsaw) - 30. XII 1954 (Warsaw). One of the original trio of the Fathers of the Polish School of Poster. Studied at the Graphics Industry School and at the Municipal School of Decorative Art & Painting in Warsaw. Poster designer since 1931. Member of KAW 1936-39. Exhibitions : Canada - 1960, Italy - 1964, Denmark, Sweden - 1965. Awards : 2nd prize for "PKO" poster - 1933, 1st prize for poster for Tychy Brewery - 1935, Grand Prix for "BBP" poster @ International Art and Technology Expo in Paris - 1937. After 1945 concentrated on poster design. UN poster award - 1948, 1st prize @ I OWP in Warsaw - 1953. Posthumously awarded 2nd prize for the "Nie" poster @ Vienna Congress for Peace - 1962. In 1955 , the Trepkowski Award has been established to honor the best young commercial graphic designer of the year.
